Borgward

An unusual German.

Borgward

From left to right, Austin/Morris, Triumph, Something interesting, Triumph, Vauxhall, Vauxhall, Triumph.  Recognise the light blue car? It’s a German Borgward Isabella Coupé. Now maybe you see those in Germany today as we do Minis and Heralds, but I can’t remember the last time I saw one in the UK.  I wonder who bought it back in the early sixties.  (The company went into liquidation in 1961).

Postcards can sit in shops for years before they’re bought. This one appealed to a Dutch lady called Eleonor, who sent it to her work colleagues in Naarden in Holland in 1983.

Obviously these aren’t postcards or period photographs but I came across them by chance and wonder whether one of these cars could be the actual car featured in the postcard in the previous post – An Unusual German.  They come from classic-carshow.com. The top photo was taken at the Bromley Pageant of Motoring in 2005  and the bottom one was taken at Goodwood Breakfast Club in April 2009.
