VE-Day was on May 8th 1945. This postcard was posted from Heysham on 1st August 1945 by Flo & Ses who are ‘Having a Grand Time and both feeling the benefit of the fine weather.’
[Later edit – readers have identified this in their comments as an Austin]
Pub’s still there…
Nice to find some ‘news’ from Cars on Streets again.
Helped by its beautifully shaped front bumper, I guess the car is a 1934 Austin 10-4. Like Flo & Ses, it must have a grand time, having survived the war, and now enjoying being safely out in the sun!
Definitely looks like an Austin radiator, the resident anorak reckons its a 12 as it’s not big enough for a 16.
