Two Germans in Doncaster

doncaster

That Escort looks a sorry state but those two rear-engined Germans look very cool.    The red  one’s a VW Karmann-Ghia Type 34 – very rare today and quite rare back in the day as only 42,500 were ever built, and next to it is an NSU Prinz 1000 with its unusual six separate rear lights.

It can’t be an accident that they find themselves side by side on a street in Doncaster in the early seventies, and I can’t help thinking that they must be from the same German importer and the salesmen are in the Salutation having a swift one before going home. What other reason could there be? Answers on a postcard please…
