When I stumbled upon a website called PostCARds by Erik Verhaest in France I was instantly hooked.
Each of Erik’s postcards tells a story and is a snapshot of a past age that will never return and I decided to take up his hobby too.
The cards I like most in Erik’s collection are the one’s in which the car is incidental. The car is then presented within a context that brings it and the people in the photograph to life.
So in building my collection this is what I am looking for – cars on streets. Not postcards of cars, but postcards of streets with cars on. And I don’t want buses or trams or bicycles. And I don’t want racing cars on tracks. Just cars on streets.
Nice but no.
No. Not even if it is on a road!
No. Something’s missing.
No, not artwork or publicity cards.
No, cars on streets.
Ahh, Yes, that’s it! That’s what we want.
A simple concept really and you’ll either get it or you won’t.
In this blog I display the postcards I find and also showcase other websites that display photographs of cars on streets.
